The main square in Šempeter has always been a very lively meeting point. This used to be the end station of the tram connecting Šempeter and Gorica between the years 1927 and 1932.
Today the traditional socializing under the lime tree on the main town square (hence also the name Lipa, which translated means “lime”) has been substituted by the Lipa Bistro, which remains a daily stopover for many; with a delicious coffee and a newspaper in the morning, a tasty brunch or lunch at midday or a choice snack and a drink in good company later on.

Besides modern and classic ones the menu offers also dishes that combine the history and culture of the fruitful gardens of the Goriška Region. However, the menu does not lack pasta, fish, burgers, steaks, original salads, frittatas, Šempeter struklji, Mark gibanica etc. From the wide selection of drinks we highly recommend the local top-quality beer and wine, which both match perfectly the dishes served at the bistro.

The offer has been customized in cooperation with the Šempeter Women and Girls Society, which cultivates with great care the local gastronomy heritage, and the Biotechnology Secondary School, as well as local farms, which also deliver fresh local seasonal ingredients. There are certain elements in the modern ambience of the Lipa Bistro that make you feel the history of this town.
